Out Playing

Giant antlers wave
On that gentle prairie breeze
Elk wading in the water
Loving a hot and sultry day
Out on the prairie.

White Pelicans

Sandhill Cranes

 Hoary Vervain

 Long-headed coneflower, also called Thimbleweed

  1. Have never seen elk in water like this. Awesome.
the prairie is one of the most beautiful landscapes around. Pardon my bias. Once a prairie boy always a prairie boy.
I felt at home in parts of the arctic because it was similar to prairie

  2. You certainly see some unusual sights out on your prairie...like a herd of elk in a pond or stream. Nice set of photos.

  3. It is so nice to see all the elk headed into the water. I am not great at identifying wild flowers but yours are great and I do need to dig out my wildflower book. Great photos.

  6. That hoary Vervain is just beautiful, as are the coneflowers. White Pelicans winter in Tennessee on the big impoundments such as Kentucky
    Lake.

  8. Those antlers can be seen from most anywhere--even when the rest of the body is hiding!!!!! Great shots.

Love the Hoary Vervain... I've never heard of it --but I love the color.

    Have a great weekend.

  11. "The Prairie is My Garden" I always love stopping by. The flowers remind me of growing up back home. Wish I had seen some elk like that when I was hunting last fall.
